Just re-reading the royai scene in Novel 2, I realized that, depending on how one looks at it, it's Royai just as much as it is RoyEd! Anyway, because I said I'd translate it a while back and I need something to take my mind off of all the exams and presentations that are coming up... Here's a translation of the ending scene of Novel 2.


A bit on what happened before this scene. Roy, Ed, and his subordinates are caught in a battle against terrorists. A giant wooden box was heading towards Roy and Riza when Roy pulled Riza behind him protectively. Roy was about to snap his fingers when Riza stopped and yanked him downwards. It's Ed to the rescue.

(After everything is over, and they're heading back to East City)
Ed: Colonel
Roy: What is it? This is a bad feeling.
Ed: I repaid you.
Roy: ?
Ed: I saved you earlier. From ?????'s grasp. (????? because I don't know how to translate the name. ^^;;)
Roy: The person you saved was the First Lieutenant. Not me. And by the way, I am perfectly capable of protecting the First Lieutenant on my own. I was just about to snap my fingers when you...
Ed: No. The person I saved was the Colonel.
Roy: What?
Ed: (holds up a piece of wood with a label that says ‘Warning. Explosives’) If you had created fire, what would have happened?
Hawkeye: That’s why I said “Be careful” (Here, Riza is teasing Roy)
Roy: ……!
Ed: Too careless, weren’t you?
Roy: …I was just worried about my subordinates!
Ed: Hehehe.

Hawkeye: (in a barely audible whisper) …But, thank you, Colonel.
Roy: It was nothing… (And Roy smiled.)
